Marisa Mackenzie is highly experienced in the gymnastics sphere, having done the sport from the moment she could walk. Marisa believes that gymnastics provides a basis for athleticism through coordination, body awareness, and strength. She is a true advocate for the sport as she considers gymnastics to assist in the development of foundational life attributes such as mental strength, discipline and perseverance.
She has had 18 years of competition experience and 10 years of experience in gymnastics coaching. Marisa was a national stream gymnast from 1995 to 2013, with the uneven bars being her most medalled apparatus. After retiring from the sport in early 2014, Marisa continued her passion through coaching recreational and competitive stream gymnastics for children aged 4 until 16 years of age. She began as an assistant recreational coach at the age of 12 on the sideline, while she remained a national stream gymnast competitor. From as early as 2007, Marisa took on a development program where she trained children from the age of 4 to become future national stream gymnasts. As well as being exceedingly experienced in coaching gymnastics, as an ex-national stream gymnast she also understands the needs of those attempting the skills and communicates effectively in teaching particular movements.
While gymnastics lay at the core of her passions, she explored coaching in related sports such as acrobatic dance, circus skills and parkour. In 2016, she choreographed her first acrobatic theatrical dance for a dance show at Seymour College, South Australia. This involved class planning, music editing, costume design, and choreographing 3 acrodance routines for a group aged 6 to 16 years old.

Locally she has performed in the Adelaide Fringe 2010 to 2018 and in the beginning of 2015 choreographed a piece as a part of the Adelaide College of the Arts' Rip Drag Ruminate premiering as a choreographer in the Adelaide Fringe.
Upon graduating Alex has developed three self devised shows in the 2016 and 2017 Adelaide Fringe. She has trained overseas to perform a season at the Edinburgh Fringe 2017 and toured around the UK and Europe with a duo circus show accompanied with her acrobatic partner.
